A sweet and funny memory

My dad is a magnificent man. Since he was a child, he took good care of himself, where he learnt to cook for himself. So if I am lucky (which I am most of the time), he can cook up succulent food using leftovers and food in the fridge and I can enjoy his delicacy.

Besides that, he was some what a person who like to experiment in various field, but mostly on food. He tried once putting fresh orange juice into red bean soup and some other less interesting stories than the one that I am going to tell you now.

I guess it is clear to you that the picture above is of noodle called 'keow teow th'ng'. Yes, that is the story that I am revealing to you. If you had tried all various form of keow teow - there is 'char keow teow', 'wa dan ho' (in kl they use keow teow, but a narrow version of it) and others. But, have you tried the Malay version of keow teow th'ng? Frankly, I have not the chance to try it before, but my dad said it was sweet and he wanted to try it on that particular day.

In this case, he never even asked the Malay keow teow th'ng hawkers about the recipe and just rushed in to experiment it on us (well, we will be the ones who will eat it eventually, right?) So he cook a big pot of herbal soup and put rock sugar in it. I was sceptical and told him that I did not have a good feeling about it, but he was so enthusiastic at that point of time.

So when the food was cook, guess what? All of us just had a small bowl of it and could not bear another bowl anymore (usually we will have two bowls or plates of anything). Since then, whenever my dad wanted to try on something exceptionally new, we or at least, I will tease him on his sweet keow teow th'ng project and we would laughed like hyenas. ^^
